2024 “May in the Wide Bay” (Hervey Bay) - Rodders Association Car Show
BMWCQ have been invited to attend the “2024 May in the Wide Bay - Rodders Association Car Show”, held over the Labour Day long weekend (3-6 May 2024).
We haven’t previously been involved in this event but have heard good reports about the way that previous events have been run. The Wide Bay Rodders are keen to have our club participate next year! They had 450 cars of all makes and models at this year’s event, with some coming from as far as South Australia - next year’s event will be limited to 400 vehicles!

We will receive more details closer to the date, but it is anticipated that we will meet at a nominated point on Sunday morning (5th May 24) and enter the car show grounds around 8am where we will proceed to the area allocated for our club. Initial thoughts are that having older classic vehicles displayed prominently at the front of our section with progressively newer models in rows behind. The cars would be displayed at least until 1pm.
The early start, along with the cars being on show for an extended period, means that we need to plan some group accommodation. The below hotels have supplied us with some nightly rates and were selected because they have good security for the cars at night.

There are also number of other accommodation options if members want to select their own, early bookings are recommended, as it will be over a long weekend and this show will attract many visitors.
If you intend on staying overnight you will need to book your accommodation early, so that we can secure the accommodation and the car spots at the show. Registration for the show will be early December 2023. Members are welcome to attend if not showing a vehicle.

Registration Costs:
- 1. Friday – Sunday - $100.00 which includes: Entry Fee, 2 x BBQ Breakfasts (Sat & Mon), 2 x Dinners (Fri & Sun) and Live Entertainment Friday & Sunday nights.
- 2. Sunday only – ‘Show & Shine’ - $5.00 (registration fee only – CASH ONLY)
Schedule:
Friday 3rd - registration for car show entrants from midday + BBQ Dinner
Saturday 4th - BBQ Breakfast. 10am Observation run around Hervey Bay (90 minutes) with a pub stop at the end of the run (own cost). Evening street cruise along Charles Esplanade (4-6pm) followed by a Pub dinner meal (own cost).
Sunday 5th – “Show & Shine” - Cars at the show grounds by 8am, open to the public at 9am. Kiddy Olympics at 3pm. Catered dinner and live band entertainment.
Monday 6th - BBQ Breakfast, then end of the event.
